I'll probably never know if people feel like I do, but when I hear songs with lyrics like these it just makes me wonder if there's someone out there I'll get to talk to one day.

Okay, I really have to know after listening to this pretty much on repeat for matching my vibe lately. Is this song about the struggle of losing one's faith? I mean, I don't have that struggle, but from what I hear in the lyrics, the protagonist struggles keeping his faith and feels betrayed by it, by his God, by the church, and even by the community he devoted his life to. The black stained glass is literally the stained glass of the church windows which now seems black. The promise of peace and repeair after putting your faith in God seems to be unfulfilled and now the protagonist struggles with depression and faith doesn't seem to provide the answers. If anything, it makes him feel worse for questioning his beliefs and afraid that he might be cast out by a once loving community that turns out to be loving only if you're as devoted and unquestioning as them. Even more, the community has probably been saying he makes "devil music" because it's metal without understanding it has nothing to do with the devil or stuff like that. The faith he once defended with all his heart is fading away and he wants to keep it but he finds it hard to do because deep down he knows gods don't exist and it's very, very hard to let go of all his life. The feeling of a wasted youth, wasted best years, that's gotta hurt. One thing I'm pretty sure about is that no one happy writes a song like that. Whoever wrote it, with this music, with these lyrics, this voice - that's someone deeply hurt. Someone who's about to crumble. Praying for death to take you twice? I know the feeling, experiencing it as I ride on the bus right now. I hope it goes away. All I can say to the author is - whatever path brought you here, it's not wasted. I'm not religious myself but I respect christianity in its pure form that serves as a moral compass and actually makes people behave better. Of course it has a bad side and it's more obvious to the ones who've experienced it, but still. And, of course, I could be very wrong and read too much into something that's just a song.

I relate to these words, so much. It is easy to feel failure under the perfection of God. But as much as we fail, Christ's blood STILL covers. This song is a WINNER.

This song sounds heartbreaking. I think most of us understand some part of the trauma that keeps us further from God's light than we desire. I want to encourage everyone: keep approaching God in prayer, and never give up hope in the return of Jesus Christ to earth. It seems far, and it's been a long time, but keep the faith, and you will see: He keeps all His promises. You are worth the blood He shed. You are loved. Stay in Christ.

The immediate silence of the music at 2:24 is so chilling! Honestly, this song has the same remorseful feel as The Tide Began To Rise. "If this is all the love my spirit can give, there is not a reason more to live" "and I won't justify this dark and light in one... Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb..." There's so much power in the emotion of the song without any volume. It's so remorseful and yet, peaceful. I like it alot

When it dropped last week i listened, not expecting what i heard. Circled back the last 2 days, it's been on repeat. I told my son it's beautifully depressing. Sounds like a movie track with pure raw emotion and turmoil. It just about brings tears for different reasons. I'd love to hear what Ryan's perspective was when this came out of him. I feel like songs hit harder for me when i understand its intent
